My friends are lately crazy with time lapse project on their Nikon body and I happened to join them for a session. Was worried on how am I going to perform the time lapse without much preparation and I am not going to do a manual time lapse for sure.
On the beginning, I tried using the 1/2 broken cable release and followed my friend shutter release sequence to time for the lapse. He had the D700 set for 7 seconds lapse and I just have to manually release the shutter every time I heard his shutter sound.
While doing that, I managed to multitask and setup the laptop with the Canon Installation and having the Canon Utility software upgraded. I paused the manual operation and hooked up the USB wires and walla !! I manage to get the automatic interval shooting to works under that.
There are few things that I learned during this very first attempt.
– Be persistent and do not give up until the end ( I gave up in the middle and only to find out the sky changed into pretty dynamic scene )
– Bring something to do while waiting as the time lapse going to be a while and this probably the reason why I failed number 1
– Get prepared earlier and don’t rush.
The following is completed with 316 exposures and put into movie using Microsoft Movie Maker where minimum frame interval is 0.125 which is still too slows.
Why that I gave up in the middle ? I thought taking a HDR pic will be more fruitful and I took this.
Looks like I need to think again where I can experience more Time Lapse, or perhaps to perform the project with using the DMC-LX3 in stead.
