Sockpeng is the Malaysian blogger behind Mylovelybluesky.com, a Mandarin-Chinese travel blog, and the author of the travel guide, «跟着蓝天白云去旅行» (“Travelling with Mylovelybluesky”). In recent years, she’s taken to curating her own travel journal and filling it with hand-drawn images of attractions and food. Sockpeng shares with us some of her tips and how to start your own travel journal: WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO WRITE ABOUT YOUR TRAVELS IN A HANDWRITTEN JOURNAL Sockpeng: I decided to start noting down some thoughts I had about some of the wonderful scenes. I had seen while travelling, as well as some of the conversations I had with the people I had encountered, and the information I had received while on tours. When I first started, I used to write on small pieces of paper but was then recommended by my husband to write them down in a notebook. I found out about the Japanese-brand Midori Traveler’s Notebook from friends and started using it. What’s interesting about this notebook is that it has a leather cover and removable notebooks inside. Used notebooks can be removed and more notebooks can be added in whenever you want to. I found this to be a very convenient feature to bring along on travels, as I only need to bring what I need. This is when I started to note down the great memories I had on travels to create a unique travel story journal I can call my own. It has been about four years (since October 2013) since I’ve started my travel journal. 在旅游途中看到一些精彩画面，想要写下来或者遇到了一些业者，从交谈中得到了一些资讯，我想要记录下来。一开始我随便用一些小纸张写下来；后来先生建议我用簿子写下来会比较好。当时从朋友手上认识了日本品牌 Midori Traveler’s Notebook ，这个笔记本有一个皮革外套，每一次用完一本本子可以抽出来更换新的一本非常方便出游携带。 因此，决定每一次出游都把旅途上的精彩记录了下来，那么给自己一本独一无二旅游故事书。 WHAT DO YOU KEEP IN YOUR TRAVEL JOURNAL? Before travelling, I usually note down things like itineraries, hostel/accommodation bookings, and information on the places I want to visit. This is so that I have something to refer to in the event that there is no internet and I can’t access the information I need. While I’m travelling, I make notes of my experiences on the plane, interesting things I’ve noticed at places I’ve eaten at, and everything else I’ve seen or heard. If time permits, I will hand-draw some of the scenery or buildings I see. I have found that doing this has gradually allowed me to be familiar with a place at a deeper level. 通常我在出发前记录一些航班、住宿和计划中要前往的地方资料，这是方便自己在旅途上万一失去网络上，有的旅途需要资料；在旅途中我会记录在飞机上体验、餐馆用餐和去过的景点，把一路上所闻所看都写下来。 时间上允许，我也会手绘路上的风景或建筑物，渐渐发现在旅途上的慢步让我对一个地方认识更深。 HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO DO EACH ENTRY? I usually journal on the go during travels. It doesn’t take much time, around 15-30 minutes. I spend the time waiting for buses or planes to write in the journal so as not to waste too much time while sightseeing. The hand-drawn buildings may take up to an hour if they’re quite architecturally complex. If I’m unable to write during my travels, I’ll wait till I reach home to fill it up. This may take a few hours to complete altogether. I like long-haul flights for this reason, as I can use the time to concentrate on the journaling experience. Flights are no longer boring but a good chance to reflect on the journey made! 通常我在旅途上一边玩一边写，花不会太多时间，大概是 15-30分钟左右，有时在等候巴士／飞机的时候，我就拿出来写，也不会浪费到很多时间。 手绘一些较复杂的建筑物可能就花上了半个小时到1个小时。如果旅途上真的做不到手帐，回到家再补写，可能花上几个小时也说不定完成完整的一本。 所以我很喜欢在旅途上的回程飞机上手帐，这样子不会觉得长途飞机很闷，反而觉得长途飞机手帐是一个时间给自己好好回顾一个旅程的精彩记录下来。 WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO THOSE WHO WANT TO START THEIR OWN TRAVEL JOURNAL IF THEY CAN’T DRAW? A lot of people have the misconception that you have to know how to draw before you start but the point of journaling is to record down the memories of your life. Diaries are also a good way to start if you don’t know how to draw. Filling up the pages with just accounts of your experiences works too. Of course, there are many tools these days that can help turn diaries into travel scrapbooks. I usually use these to add to the memories in my journal: Stickers and washi tape add colourful embellishments to pages Bus/train/plane tickets and admission tickets help note down dates and times If you’ve collected any brochures, cut out the pictures you like for your journal Instead of drawing, you can also print out pictures of your travels When you’re out, collect things like business cards, wrapping papers of food items, and even fallen leaves for ur journal 很多人误解说旅游手帐是一定要懂得画画才能开始，手帐本身的定义就是记录生活，日记也是其中一种，未必一定要懂得画画，白纸黑字写满也可以；当然这个年代市场上有很多工具都可以帮我们，举几个例子给大家参考 Sticker ／ Masking Tape 都可以用来点缀手帐 在旅途上的巴士票／火车票／机票／入门票都是可以用来贴上，不然很多人都把这些票根放在一旁 在旅途上拿的 Flyer / brochure 上的图片都可以剪贴下来 旅途上的照片也可以打印出来 甚至在旅途上看到的餐厅的名片／包装纸／路上的叶子都可以用啊！ 这篇访问刊登在 2017年酷航 Scoot 的航空机舱杂志（In Flight Magazine）在9月份乘搭酷航的话，就有我相伴你们一起乘搭飞机。
